International Man of Victory

I saw this on Reddit today. Go to www.blackacrebrewing.com, and when it loads, click the “I am under 21” option. You might have to refresh once or twice, since the popularity on reddit has overwhelmed this microbrewery’s website.

I guess every blog needs a first post that’s along the lines of “Well, I finally made one of these.” This is that post for me. I’m not sure how often I’ll use this thing, it depends on how many friends I have on this website. I am kind of rusty at the ol’ blogging thing, and I’m really not sure how I feel about making a website devoted to what I’m thinking. I mean, who do I think I am?

Speaking of which, maybe I should introduce myself? But if you’re one of the four two readers who managed bothered to get here, you probably already know me. Alas, I have nothing else to write about right now. Don”t worry, true believers. I’m unlikely to talk about myself so much again on this blog.

My name is Chase. I guess I’m one of those “jack of all trades, master of none” types, which is bogus. I’m searching for my specialty. I have several deep passions, which I shall refer to as “obsessions,” but I have not perfected any of them. Some are more serious that others. I love ultimate frisbee, wildlife specials, Pokemon, and music. And some people.

More specifically, in ultimate, I love UGA-B, the Chillydawgs. We came in 3rd place nationally at Division II Nationals this past year. So, I’m not saying that we are better than the A-team, but we are pretty good.

In wildlife specials, I love predators, especially big cats. I’m so torn between tigers and jaguars… I just can’t pick a favorite. I mean, jaguars kill crocodiles and anacondas… but tigers kill bears. How can I pick just one king of the jungle?

Now, when I say Pokemon, I mean I currently play the up-to-date Pokemon video games. I will battle you in Pokemon White. This is perhaps something that I have come closest to mastering. My team is tight. I have an uber team and an ou team, and both are disgusting. Pokemon’s for little kids, you say? YOU’RE for little kids. Come at me.

In music, I play the guitar, and I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers above all other bands. John Frusciante is my favorite guitarist. Despite popular belief, I do like a lot of other bands. I am listening to/playing lots of stuff pretty much all of the time that I’m alone. I just think that RHCP is the best. I’m in a band, but let’s just say I’m not “the talent.” I would call myself… a musical aspirer. But an enthusiastic one.

Someone might say, “wow, you only care about like 4 or 5 things?” I would contend that that’s more than most people my age. I mean, having just one or two things that you truly love as a young adult is a rare gift, if you ask me. These are areas in which I am constantly working to improve myself. Many people are left to sit around bored all the time, or wasting hours upon hours doing absolutely nothing on the internet or television, or they occupy their time with work and give no thought to what they enjoy. I am never bored.

I didn’t discover my passions until they all hit me at once when I was about 19. I am 22 right now. Getting old.

I have a bro. His name is Reed. He is currently 19. He is my best friend in the whole world. We hang, but he fears my hobbies. He frowns upon my obsessions, and indeed the notion of having obsessions at all. He will look down on me for making a tumblr. He thinks he is smarter and wiser than I am. But he isn’t. He is a microscopic child. I’m the best. Even so, with 19 years of being tight, he’s the only one in the world who really, really gets me.

I also have a girlfriend, or GF, if you will. Her name is Erin P. She’s way cooler than I am.

I have not had a blog since the old xanga days. Those were strange days. I plan to use this tumblr to talk about my obsessions, post humorous and interesting videos and pictures, and the like.

My philosophy is that life is only valuable when it’s shared with other people. I want people around to play with, learn from, discuss with, and challenge myself against. In this way, I will continue to grow and be able to, in turn, offer what I’ve learned right back into the group. I guess blogs are a method of doing that very thing.

Albeit a sucky method.
